While news continuously covered with variety of rumors that Intel is fading out of WiMAX field and LTE market gained a big momentum, let some market analysts think WiMAX has lost the battle in the developing of new wireless broadband communication technology.

Mr. J T Wang, chairman of Taipei Computer Association (TCA) pointed out that the in fact the future of WiMAX is not so pessimistic, WiMAX presently leads over LTE for 3~5 years. If this one can be used to develop various kinds of innovative products and applications, through more affordable handy products, WiMAX still shows favorable conditions to the consumers itself.

Finally, the industrial business circle in Taiwan can open bright road for open architecture of WiMAX into the worldwide wireless market.

The following is the interview content of JT Wang :

Question 1: Regarding the withdrawal of Intel in WiMAX camp, what are your views on Intel's move?

Answer 1: As Navin has already said Intel is not withdrawing but only dividing up the WPO through internal re-structure adjustment. We respect the Intel's decision, but I am still worried and ask what kind of support Intel will provide to WiMAX as it is after the organization adjustment takes place. This part is what I most care about such as the Intel commitments toward Taiwan government during that time, or the various kinds of cooperation memorandums signed before, how to fulfill or revive these past accords, involving the status question of Intel in every act and in every move Intel will take that influences the global partner's trustful sense in the future.

Question 2: During the conversation between JT Wang and Navin, which kinds of commitments Intel have promise?

Answer 2: I told Navin that I'm hoping Intel can put more WiMAX resources and transfer to Taiwan, no matter in what items such as IP(Intellectual property), interoperability (IOT) testing technology, product development, marketing strategies, and etc. as long as all moved to Taiwan, which can bundle together with Taiwan's WiMAX industry chain. Because of innovation and flexibility of Taiwan's industry, WiMAX technology can be popularized to all parts of the world to use. Therefore, Intel will concentrate all resources in Taiwan in a form of arrangement, utilizing WiMAX with at least 3 years ahead of LTE in order to carefully do something for WiMAX in the final stage and still come out a win victory. Intel's overall arrangement in Taiwan is the key decision for WiMAX to achieve the final success.

Navin made some commitments, but his commitment must be discussed and asked for instructions from Mr. Paul S. Otellini, as the president and chief executive officer of Intel Corporation, who will come to Taiwan in October to hold a large-scale press conference, where he will have detailed explanation when the time comes.

Question 3: Your thoughts on WiMAX ?

Answer 3: WiMAX is an open architecture, which is very suitable for the Taiwanese industry to develop, comparatively to the success of PC in the past, which formed the whole Taiwan electronic information industry that influence power of whole world of today. Finally, in the future of the world, all terminal devices will all go to the Internet where the wireless broadband will stage a valuable resource, and Taiwan is hoping to grasp the open architecture of WiMAX, creating the excellent chance of another brand-new market. The development of wireless broadband in the world has been just sprouting and starting, if we can utilize this leading time, overall arrangement of IP among the field at once, develop new products based on various kinds of innovations, is the deal in which WiMAX can make a profit to produce quickly. Question 4: How do you define the success of WiMAX?

Taiwan should move forward this direction.

Question 5: What will you think of Taiwan would develop in WiMAX from now on?

Answer 5: Since the wireless broadband is an enormous potential market, and WiMAX is the key position and chance to move toward into this market, Taiwan must come with all strength whole-heartedly to develop this technology as for an example: WiMAX, besides offers consumers with wireless network, the fact is WiMAX can be applicable into other fields, such as providing medical emergency, public security, safe in society, rescue and relief in natural disasters , in which these calamity area will fit urgently without the worry of difference in cultural's backgrounds or language barrier, as long as any good application and development come out, can popularize the whole world with various applications. So the industrial business circle should accelerate its step toward the development of WiMAX. The government should strengthen faith even more, put it into more resources on WiMAX, can see the achievement of investment in a few years.
